Open Health Data &
AI Summit 2022

Fostering Digital Solidarity

Setting the Tone

EU’s Evolving policy and regulatory paradigm will shape its healthcare landscape for generations to come. This paradigmatic shift in the policy environment necessitates a greater public discourse on the following regulations: The Data Governance Act, The Data ActAI Act and the The European Health Data Space.

At this first Hippo AI Summit, which takes place on 1-2 December 2022, experts will discuss the impact of these regulations. More particularly, we will discuss and analyse its impact on open and democratized life-saving knowledge, our fundamental European right to healthcare and the core principle of solidarity. Do these regulations change the core principles (e.g. solidarity) of our future healthcare systems, and will they empower and protect small and medium businesses? All questions we will discuss during this first Summit.

The Summit goals

  • Enable the audience to make sense of the new regulatory landscape through keynotes.
  • Determine the potential risks and challenges posed by new EU laws and their potential implications on healthcare.
  • Facilitate discourse to address some of the key issues around the new regulations:
    • Will they facilitate royalty-free and open access to medical knowledge?
    • Will they ensure and strengthen high-quality health outcomes as outlined in Article 35 of the Right to Health?
    • Will the EHDS leverage the social value of Health Data?
    • Will they increase barriers to free flow of information?
    • Will they increase the information and power asymmetries?
    • Do the Acts facilitate open-source collaboration?
    • Which Data do citizens get access to and how can they govern their own data?
    • How do they align with key European values – equality, solidarity, freedom, dignity and fundamental rights of the citizens.
